What
is a Chartered Organization?
A
Chartered Organization is the sponsoring organization for a Cub
Scout Pack. It is usually
a church, PTA, homeowners association, or other community
group.
The Chartered Organization is responsible for selecting the leadership
of the Pack and to provide a meeting place.
They are not required, but can also provide financial support
for the Pack. The Chartered
Organization also appoints a Representative to the Packs Committee. This person may or may not be a leader in the Pack.
Each year, the Pack must renew its Charter with the local council. The
Chartered Organization must approve the rechartering application
in order for the Charter to be renewed.
